Think of a ceramic coating as a thin, hard shell for the clear coat. It goes on as a liquid, bonds to the paint and cures into a slippery layer that water beads on, that road film and pollen struggle to grip, and that gives the color a deeper shine.
The bigger payoff is in how the car gets cleaned. Most paint swirls are put there by a wash mitt or a brush dragging grit across the surface, not by the road. A coated panel lets dirt go with much less rubbing. What a coating cannot do is stop a stone chip; paint protection film is the answer to chips, and the two can be combined.
